My springblades were tired, almost resting on the rubber-bumpstops. I thought of reconditioning the old blades or add spiral springs. But I had 22 new original Sugga springblades delivered from Altyco the other day and at a very good price. The top blades have the bushings already fitted.

Have you put the old springs an the new springs side to side? Would be interesting to see how much flatter they are.
In general it is no bad thing if the springs touch the rubber bumpstop. That is the original condition when the cars where delivered. There are some pictures and descriptions from the 50ies where this can be seen.

hallo leute... ich bin da anderer meinung... ich denke das diese (auf dem bild zu sehenden) federn zimlich am ende sind....
die federn sollten auch im orginalzustand mindestens 10-15 cm vom anschlagpuffer entfernt sein.
welchen grund haben wohl die federn wenn sie schon im stand am endanschlag anliegen... da hätte man sich die auch sparen können, denn so kann das rad ja nicht mehr einfedern wenn ein gegenstand überfahren werden soll...

hab ganz vergessen... habe gestern mit dem federmann hier in wuppertal telefoniert... federn anfertigen nach meinen angaben (ähnlich der orginalen, nur ca.30cm länger) macht etwa 150 euronen ...

Taeusch dich nicht. Ich habe diesbezzgl. mal mit Morten geplaudert und er hat mir ein paar Bilder aus den 50ern gemailt. Das Fahrwerk der Sau war nie zum Einfedern sondern zum Ausfedern gebaut.

vorstellen kann ich mir das nicht.... aber wenn morten das sagt.... er ist der fachmann...

und wie die federn:

The work has started. Today I took off the right rear spring. The rear bolt was difficult and both Gasol and a big hammer was needed.
As you can see there is nothing wrong with the shape of the old spring. But it is not strong enough to carry the Sugga anymore. (you have to open the link below to see photo)


Here you can see the old spring dismantled and the new blades next to it. I have new blades No. 1,2, 4,5,7. But I have six pieces of blade No.2 so I will make a new blade 3 of it.
