Hello from France

Beitrag von gduhem »

Hi everyone,

As Baz did today and as Deckard invited me, I join this forum, but I'll write in english. I'm Sorry because I'm not as comfortable as Baz even I enjoied learning german when I was student.

I own the Sugga N°590 I had from Andrew HILLS in NEWCASTLE in july this year.

Bild

It's running, unrestored but without radios. I plan to register it next week and have my french plates at last!!

You'll find some pictures at this following link :

For the overhaul and repair, I have the parts e-book, from the web (www.poff.org) the driver's manual, and a repair book. These ones are in swedish.

I'm happy to join this forum and share enthusiasm with you around this beautiful and impressive car!!

Bis bald

Guillaume

Hi Gaillaume,

welcome to our board. I hope you have no problems by the registration of your Sugga.
Your tires looking good. :D What type/manufacturer is this?

I would guess, the tires are Petlas 9.00-16 from turkey...

You even got a matching shovel... :D Your sow seems to be in good condition.

Hello Guillaume,
a warm welcome to you and your sugga! Looking at the pictures, it seems that you don´t have to do too much work on it. Pretty good shape!!
What did you pay for it?

Thanks everyone for your Welcome!

You guessed well, Deckard!! The tyres are the Petlas you described. They were put by Andrew HILLS, the previous owner. They are new because he drove just few miles with the Sugga before the engine broke (1 cylinder has been changed).

My Sugga seems in good condition, but I have an important corrosion on the body and rear wings (even holes on the rear right wing and under the body). Serious problem to be fixed. I'll do some pictures this week-end and post them!

The engine turns well (T° and oil pressure correct and constant) but it's noisy when I increase rpm (with oil fumes at the exhaust). No oilfumes either. I'll plan to change oil (20W50 from MOTUL for classic cars) this week-end too.

The sugga was sold me "as this". I mean I haven't driven it before buying it. I just went two times to Newcastle, where Andrew lives, to see and check the most details I could. I bought it around 4500£ + 800£ for transport (to the north of France, in the country where my parents are living).
I saw two suggas, first in France & second this one. A third one near HAMBURG was sold just before I could see it. Mine is the one who has main details (except radios) as the original one I found. So after 2 years, I decided to buy this one :D

My experience and know-how about the Sugga is a little "light" as I only own it since July, but everytime I drive it, it's amazing!!!!

Bis bald.

I know what you write about... the rust on the lower front edge of the rear fender und the rust on the rear mounting beams of the cabin seems to be a common problem. I got the same.
On the other hand, I think that's not bad after 50 years...

That's right. 50 years old and still running! Normal to take care of such cars like our suggas. Will our present cars be drivable in 50years? I don't think so (but not due to corrosion this time, but electronic failure  )

Well, my story with the sugga is a little strange or amazing too. The most strange is how I discover the Sugga.
I'll tell you this week-end. with other pictures!!! :1_wow
